Gov Otti unveils plan to create 125,000 jobs

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has expressed his administration’s willingness to partner with investors to drive development and generate employment opportunities across the state.

He made this known at the Government House in Umuahia during the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the construction of the Aba Commercial Smart City, a project expected to create about 125,000 jobs.

Represented by his Chief of Staff, Caleb Ajagba, the governor said that upon completion, the initiative would position Aba and the wider state as a major industrial hub, fostering sustainable economic growth and employment.

Otti said his administration does not believe in giving handouts to youths and other citizens, but in creating quality employment.

He  called for the continued partnership between the public and private sectors in the development of the state, noting that the synergy between his administration and  private investors recently resulted to 90 days of uninterrupted power supply in Aba.

The Manager, Technical Services, Aba Commercial Smart City, Mr. David Okoro, said the project, which would be built on 140-hectare of land in Osisioma, would create 25, 000 direct jobs and 100,000 indirect jobs in Abia.
