At least five people have been killed following a new attack by gunmen in Fan District, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.
The incident, which happened on Sunday night, has increased tension in the community, with residents raising concerns over their safety.
A local resident, Bot James, said the victims were on their way home around 9 p.m. when they were ambushed by the attackers.
He explained that the assailants opened fire on them without any warning.
“Four persons were killed on the spot, while another victim later died in the hospital,” he said.
Rwang Tengwong, publicity secretary of Berom Youth Moulders, also confirmed the development, describing it as unfortunate and worthy of condemnation.
He urged security agencies to step up efforts to safeguard lives and property in the area and prevent further incidents.
