Gunmen kill three Police officers in fresh Kwara community attack

Suspected terrorists have launched another assault on Tenibo community in Kaiama LGA of Kwara State, killing three mobile police officers.

The incident occurred just eleven days after gunmen killed three soldiers in Kemanji community following a prolonged gun battle, bringing the number of slain security personnel in the state to six within two weeks.

Local sources said the latest attack has sparked fear in Tenibo and nearby communities, forcing many residents to flee to safer locations.

The attackers were said to have struck around midnight on Saturday, emerging from surrounding forests before targeting a security base, where they killed the officers.

Sources added that the assailants overpowered the security operatives and retreated back into the forest, a pattern reportedly common in such attacks.

Residents, who spoke anonymously, claimed that security personnel have increasingly become targets, with the attackers exploiting the dense forest terrain to evade arrest.

A Kaiama Local Government staff member confirmed the incident and called for urgent action to address the repeated attacks.

Also confirming the development, the chairman of Kaiama LGA, Abubakar Abdullahi Danladi, urged authorities to clear the surrounding forests, noting that it would deny the attackers safe hideouts and allow residents to return to farming activities.
