Fresh violence broke out in Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State when armed men carried out a deadly overnight attack on Ding’ak community in Mushere Chiefdom, killing at least two people, burning churches and homes, and looting food supplies.
The assault began around midnight and continued until about 4:30 a.m., with the attackers wielding sophisticated weapons that overpowered local vigilantes.
Speaking tomedia, the Chairman of the Bokkos Cultural Development Forum (BCDF), Farmasum Fudang, confirmed that the victims included two officials from the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN).
He added that the attackers set fire to two COCIN churches and several houses, destroyed maize farms, and stole livestock — including cows, goats, sheep, chickens, and ducks — along with stored food.
“They came through the usual route between Ding’ak and Kopmur,” Fudang said, noting that a security checkpoint lies less than a kilometre from the scene. “Soldiers fired shots into the air but did not confront the attackers,” he alleged.
Fudang described the incident as part of an ongoing wave of terror in Mushere land, pointing out that it happened just two days after a similar attack on Ndimar community. He urged the federal and Plateau State governments to intervene urgently and bring the perpetrators to justice.
Security authorities have not yet issued an official statement at the time of publication.
