The Lagos State Deputy Governor, Obafemi Hamzat, alongside several leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Sunday met with Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, as part of consultations ahead of the 2027 Lagos governorship election.
Those present at the meeting included the Secretary of the Governors’ Advisory Council, Muti Are; Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon; Bode Oyedele; Senator Musiliu Obanikoro; Adekunle Olayinka; and the Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, Hakeem Shittu, among others.
Obanikoro, who led the discussions, stated that the delegation visited to seek Gbajabiamila’s backing for Hamzat’s ambition to become the next governor of Lagos State in 2027.
He noted that Hamzat possesses extensive experience in Lagos politics and requires the support of APC leaders to secure victory in the governorship contest.
In his remarks, the deputy governor said the visit was aimed at receiving guidance from Gbajabiamila and drawing on his experience to strategise effectively for the election under the ruling party.
