‘He’s now in operating theatre,’ Toyosi Adesanya gives update on Ogogo’s treatment

Nigerian actress Toyosi Adesanya has provided an update on the ongoing treatment of her colleague, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as ‘Ogogo’, amid concerns over his health.

The development comes after Ogogo’s family recently appealed for public support following the actor’s diagnosis with stage four cancer.

Kira, one of Ogogo’s daughters, disclosed that the family discovered he had cancer about three weeks ago, explaining that the illness had affected his abdomen.

She said some medical facilities had informed the family that they could no longer administer chemotherapy to the actor and appealed for recommendations on alternative treatment options.

Kira also appreciated the intervention of Solomon Adeola, the senator representing Ogun West, who she said had been assisting the family with Ogogo’s medical expenses.

Lima, another of the actor’s daughters, also disclosed that Adeola had pledged to continue providing financial support to the family.

She further explained that Ogogo was not medically fit to travel abroad for treatment, responding to a suggestion made by socialite Yhemo Lee.

In a recent Instagram post, Adesanya disclosed that the senator had taken his intervention further by recommending Ogogo to “top cancer specialists”.

The actress also expressed hope that the actor’s operation would be successful.

“Senator Yayi personally reached out to top cancer specialists, and we are grateful to learn that Ogogo has now been admitted to the operating theatre for treatment,” she wrote.

“We pray for a successful procedure, complete recovery, renewed strength and many more years of good health for our beloved Nollywood legend.

“A huge thank you to everyone who has prayed, offered suggestions, shared the appeal and shown concern for Ogogo. May God bless you all. Ogogo, we are standing with you. You will come out stronger!”

On Tuesday, some of Ogogo’s colleagues, including Femi Adebayo, Muyiwa Ademola and Bimbo Oshin, also joined calls for urgent medical intervention for the veteran actor.
