How my twin brother, Taiwo died — Kehinde Adegbodu

The surviving member of the gospel duo Adegbodu Twins, Kehinde Adegbodu, has revealed the final hours he spent with his twin brother Taiwo, before his death.

Taiwo’s passing was announced earlier this month, though the cause of death was not disclosed. In a now-viral video, Kehinde shared that his brother had been in good spirits and very active just hours before collapsing.

He said Saturday had been a typical day for them, ending with their usual nightly prayer routine. The brothers prayed together before parting ways for the evening.

“We used to have our night prayer at 9pm every day. We prayed together at 9pm on Saturday and everyone went to bed,” Kehinde explained.

“At about 10pm, I went to Taiwo’s room to tell him that church service was 10am the next day. He was playing games on his phone and he replied that he would sleep early.”

Kehinde recounted that just before 11pm, Taiwo knocked on his door, complaining of a sharp pain in his chest. He insisted they go to the hospital, only five minutes away from their home, not expecting that Taiwo would never return.

Born in Oyo, the twins dedicated their lives to gospel music, becoming pillars of the Yoruba gospel scene. Their rise to prominence began with the release of their debut album, ‘Faratimi (Lean on Me)’, in 1999—a project that established them as vital new voices in contemporary Christian music.
