President Bola Tinubu has authorised the deployment of 65 ambassadors-designate and high commissioners to different countries and to the United Nations.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, announced on Friday that 31 non-career diplomats and 34 career ambassadors have now been assigned to their respective postings.
The Nigerian Senate had confirmed the 65 nominees in December 2025 after they were screened by its Committee on Foreign Affairs.
According to the statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been instructed to begin an induction programme for the envoys immediately. The ambassadors will proceed to their postings once their host nations grant agrément.
