I’m still in PDP, I’ll consult widely before any decision — Seriake Dickson

The senator representing Bayelsa West, Seriake Dickson, has dismissed reports claiming he has defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).

Earlier reports had alleged that the former Bayelsa governor had joined the ADC, an opposition coalition platform ahead of the 2027 elections.

However, in a statement released on Friday, Ajiri Daniels, Dickson’s aide, described the reports as false, stressing that the senator remains a loyal member and leader of the PDP.

Daniels explained that Dickson had temporarily withdrawn from political engagements to mourn the passing of Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, former deputy governor of Bayelsa State.

He added that the senator has since been receiving condolence visits from friends, political leaders, associates and well-wishers from different parts of the country, cutting across party affiliations and various sectors of society.

According to Daniels, Dickson is closely monitoring political developments and will “consult widely with friends and political allies across the country before taking any decision, which will be formally announced”.

“But in the meantime, he remains a key leader in the PDP, hoping that the party will get its act right in view of its legacy contribution to Nigerian politics,” the statement said.

He urged Nigerians, party members and supporters to disregard the defection claims, describing them as fake news aimed at misleading the public.
