The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Joash Amupitan, is currently meeting with leaders of the two factions of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The meeting is taking place at the INEC headquarters in Abuja and was convened by the INEC chairman ahead of the Federal Capital Territory area council elections, as well as the Osun and Ekiti state governorship polls slated for next year.
Present at the meeting are members of the national working committee led by Tanimu Turaki and the faction headed by Samuel Anyanwu.
After his opening remarks, Amupitan explained that the engagement was aimed at understanding why the commission has been receiving official communications from two different groups laying claim to the PDP leadership.
