Internet Disruption: Operators working to restore services – NCC

The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has stated that service providers are currently engaged in efforts to restore internet connectivity following its disruption on Thursday.

The submarine cable cuts on Thursday caused multiple African internet service providers to experience outages, leaving telecommunications subscribers and bank users stranded for hours as digital transactions and internet communications came to a halt.

However, the NCC announced on early Friday that efforts were underway to resolve the issue.

“Operators of these cables have commenced repairs already, and services are gradually being restored,” the NCC Director of Public Affairs Reuben Muoka Director said in a statement.

“They have promised to work round the clock to ensure that services are restored to the affected countries within the shortest possible time. It is important to bring this information to the knowledge of corporate and individual consumers on these services.”
