Iran threatens US tech giants in Middle East, urges evacuation

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a warning that it may target United States technology firms operating across the Middle East.

In a statement released on Tuesday by the IRGC-linked Tasnim news agency, about 20 companies were identified as “legitimate military targets”, including Boeing, Tesla, Meta, HP, Microsoft, Google, and Apple.

“Since the main element in designing and tracking terrorist targets are American and ICT and AI companies … from now on, [these] main institutions will be our legitimate targets,” the statement reads.

The group also advised workers and residents in surrounding areas to evacuate immediately.

According to the Iranian military, the planned strikes could begin from 8pm local time on Wednesday if further Iranian officials are killed in what it described as “targeted assassinations”.

Earlier, Israel’s military said it had carried out over 230 strikes across Iran within 24 hours, describing the operation as a coordinated effort to weaken Iran’s military capabilities.

Iran has consistently accused both Israel and the United States of attacking civilian infrastructure.

The country had previously warned it could also target US and Israeli academic institutions in the region following recent air raids on the Isfahan University of Technology and Iran University of Science and Technology in Tehran.

The latest threat comes after weeks of Iranian strikes on US military bases across the Middle East.
