The chairman of Fityanul-Islam, Rabiu Zaria, has declared support for Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani’s bid for a second term.
Zaria made the declaration on Tuesday during the Maulid Nabiyyi celebration at Murtala Mohammed Square in Kaduna, where he praised the governor for supporting religious activities and promoting an inclusive approach to governance.
According to the cleric, Sani had consistently responded to requests from Fityanul-Islam since taking office and had demonstrated support for followers of different faiths.
He said the group would repay the governor’s support during the 2027 election.
“We will not vote for someone who hates us, someone who will prevent us from celebrating Maulid, or someone who will arrest our Qur’anic pupils,” Rabiu said.
Zaria also prayed for Sani to complete his first term successfully, win re-election and rise to a higher political position.
“We will all be gathered here at Murtala Muhammed Square to celebrate your victory at the polls,” Rabiu said.
Speaking at the event, Sani said the Maulid celebration should remind Muslims and other Nigerians of Prophet Muhammad’s teachings on tolerance, peace and peaceful coexistence.
“We are all gathered here today to emulate the prophet and his lifestyle. We are all aware that he embraced everyone, irrespective of religion and ethnicity. This is the significance of this gathering,” Sani said.
The governor said his administration would continue to work with religious organisations to strengthen peace and stability in Kaduna.
He added that the state’s policy of treating residents based on character rather than religion or ethnicity had helped improve harmony across the state.
