Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Ishaq Oloyede, has revealed that 17 individuals, including JAMB officials, are currently being prosecuted by law enforcement agencies for various offences related to the mobilisation of graduates for national service.
Speaking at the 2025 Batch ‘C’ pre-mobilisation workshop of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) held in Abuja on Monday, Oloyede cautioned participants to refrain from data manipulation during the mobilisation process.
He explained that the ongoing prosecutions involve offences tied to admission, graduation, and mobilisation procedures for the NYSC.
The JAMB registrar also urged student affairs officers to uphold the integrity of the mobilisation process by ensuring that all data for prospective corps members are sourced directly from JAMB.
Earlier in his remarks, Olakunle Nafiu, director-general of the NYSC, reaffirmed the scheme’s zero tolerance for fraud in the mobilisation exercise.
He identified data manipulation, identity theft, inconsistent records from corps-producing institutions, and the proliferation of unauthorised higher institutions as major issues affecting the process.
“NYSC will continue to apply sanctions wherever such unethical practices are discovered,” Nafiu stated.
“We must be conscious of the fact that the strength of our mobilisation system will depend not only on technology, but also on ethics, discipline, and professionalism of those who handle the technology.
“Let us continue to uphold the principles of transparency, accountability, and zero tolerance for compromise.
“Every Nigerian graduate who wears the NYSC uniform must be genuinely qualified and properly verified.”
