A significant police presence, including officers from the Nigeria Police Force’s Area F Division, was noted on Thursday, as protesters began gathering at the Ikeja underbridge in Lagos to commemorate June 12 Democracy Day.
The protesters, comprising civil society organizations and pro-democracy advocates, convened to express concerns about the deteriorating economic situation and escalating insecurity under President Bola Tinubu’s administration. Although the protest had not officially started at the time of this report, security personnel were observed maintaining heightened vigilance.
