JUST IN: Court declares Pat Utomi’s ‘shadow government’ unconstitutional

A federal high court in Abuja has barred Pat Utomi, professor of political economy, and his associates from going ahead with their plan to form a shadow government in Nigeria.

In a ruling on Monday in a case brought by the Department of State Services (DSS), Justice James Omotosho held that the idea of a shadow government or cabinet is unconstitutional and incompatible with the country’s presidential system of governance.
