JUST IN: Security operatives rescue 13 kidnapped passengers in Benue

Thirteen Benue Links passengers kidnapped in Eke, Okpokwu Local Government Area of Benue State, have been successfully rescued through a coordinated effort by the police and local vigilantes.

The chairman of the Local Government Area, Adah Inalegwu, confirmed the rescue on Sunday. Speaking to Channels Television, Inalegwu revealed that the joint team intensified pressure by combing the forest, resulting in the rescue of two passengers on Saturday.

He added that the involvement of youths from neighboring Kogi State bolstered the efforts, ultimately compelling the kidnappers to abandon the remaining eleven victims at Oando village around 4:00 PM on Sunday.

Inalegwu credited Governor Hyacinth Alia’s provision of logistics, along with enhanced security surveillance and tracking systems, for the successful rescue operation.

The rescued individuals are currently undergoing profiling before being reunited with their families.
