The Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammad Abubakar Sa’ad, has confirmed sighting the crescent moon marking the end of Ramadan fasting.
Sultan had earlier asked Muslim faithfuls in Nigeria to watch out for the crescent moon.
In a broadcast on Saturday, the Sultan, who is president of the Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSIA), said “today marks the end of the Ramadan fasting and Sunday, March 30, is the Eid-el-Fitr celebration”.
“Therefore, tomorrow, Sunday, 30th March, 2025 becomes the 1st day of Shawal 1446 and the Eid-el- Fitr day,” the Sultan declared.
The Sultan prayed that Allah grant all those who fasted during the month of Ramadan the privileges offered to all servants who worship Him fervently.
He also prayed for leaders at federal, state and local levels to be able to serve diligently.
Since March 1, Muslims across the world have abstained from eating, drinking, and any form of sexual relationship from dawn till dusk to observe Ramadan fasting, which is either 29 or 30 days.
Recall that the Federal Government had earlier on Wednesday declared Monday, March 31 and Tuesday, April 1 as public holidays for Eid-el-Fitr celebration.
