Terrorists launched an attack in the early hours of Monday on the Maga Comprehensive Girls’ Secondary School in Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State.
The gunmen abducted an unspecified number of female students and killed a staff member.
According to reports, the attackers stormed the school around 5:52 am, firing shots indiscriminately as students prepared for their morning activities.
Security sources revealed that a staff member was shot dead during the assault, while a security guard was injured and is currently receiving medical attention.
Residents told HumAngle that the gunmen overpowered the school’s security personnel and took several girls into the surrounding bushes.
Locals also said the attackers were still within close range and urged security agencies to act quickly to prevent the abducted students from being taken deeper into the forest.
“We know they are still around the area. Government must move fast if these children are to be rescued,” a resident told the platform.
The Kebbi attack occurred just hours after terrorists struck Rogun Village in Kpada District of Patigi LGA, Kwara State, where two security operatives were killed.
A security source told SaharaReporters that the armed group carried out a coordinated attack on a police outpost late Sunday night, resulting in a fierce exchange of gunfire.
By the time the confrontation ended, a police constabulary member and a vigilante officer had been confirmed dead.
