The Supreme Court of the United States has struck down an executive order issued by President Donald Trump aimed at restricting birthright citizenship.
In a 6–3 ruling delivered on Tuesday, the court held that children born to parents residing in the country unlawfully or temporarily are “citizens at birth” under the US Constitution.
The decision effectively nullifies Trump’s executive order and reaffirms constitutional protections surrounding birthright citizenship in the United States.
