Kano Gov presents N1.368tr budget for 2026

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, has submitted the ₦1.368 trillion 2026 budget to the State House of Assembly, describing it as a blueprint for completing key projects and promoting development across the state.

His spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, stated that the budget allocates 68% (₦934.6 billion) to capital expenditure and 32% (₦433.4 billion) to recurrent spending, marking one of the highest capital allocations in the state’s history.

Governor Yusuf highlighted that Education receives the largest portion at ₦405.3 billion, followed by Infrastructure with ₦346.2 billion, and Health with ₦212.2 billion.

He said, “These allocations demonstrate our unwavering determination to invest heavily in human capital development, safeguard the well-being of our people, and lay the physical foundation for sustainable growth.”

He explained that key sectors like Agriculture, Security, Commerce, Water, Environment, Tourism, Women and Youth Development, and support for People With Special Needs were also well captured.

The governor said the budget is a bold but realistic roadmap that aligns with the needs of citizens and aims to build a stronger and more prosperous Kano.

He called on lawmakers to approve the bill without delay, saying their cooperation is important for turning the proposals into real projects and services for the people.
