Kano governor lays foundation for N1.3bn secondary school project

Abba Yusuf, Governor of Kano State, has laid the foundation stone for a new secondary school project valued at N1.3bn in Kaura Goge, Nasarawa Local Government Area of the state.

The project is designed to replace the deteriorated Maikwatashi School, which has reportedly suffered neglect and encroachment, with parts of its land allegedly sold illegally.

According to a statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mustapha Muhammad, the decision to construct the new school followed appeals from residents and the need to improve access to quality education in the area.

The statement noted that ownership of the former Maikwatashi School has been transferred to the Kano State College of Arts and Islamic Studies for educational use.

Governor Yusuf explained that the new institution would reduce the burden on students who currently travel long distances to schools in Sabon Gari and other locations.

He urged residents to cooperate with the contractor to ensure timely delivery of the project and warned that quality standards must be strictly observed.

The Commissioner for Education, Ali Makoda, disclosed that the project will cost N1.3bn and will include 32 classrooms, 36 toilets, and four libraries, among other facilities.

He described the project as evidence of the administration’s commitment to improving education infrastructure in the state.
