Katsina extends automatic employment offer to first-class graduates

Katsina State Governor, Dikko Radda, has approved automatic employment for indigenes of the state who graduate with first-class degrees from universities across Nigeria.

He made the announcement on Sunday during the grand finale of the maiden Katsina State Students’ Week held at Bayero University, Kano, according to the News Agency of Nigeria.

Radda said the initiative is designed to attract high-achieving graduates into the state civil service in order to improve efficiency and strengthen public service delivery.

He explained that the policy, which initially applied only to graduates of state-owned institutions, has now been expanded to cover all Katsina indigenes who graduate with first-class degrees from any higher institution in the country.

The governor noted that bringing top-performing graduates into government service would significantly improve productivity and competitiveness within the next decade.

He also stated that his administration has been prioritising education through payment of outstanding scholarships, increased bursaries, and heavy investment in school infrastructure.

According to him, these efforts have helped reduce the number of out-of-school children and discouraged youth involvement in social vices.

Radda added that over 10,000 teachers have been recruited in addition to the construction and rehabilitation of schools across the state.

He urged students to remain focused on academic excellence and contribute to the development of Katsina State.

The Vice-Chancellor of Bayero University Kano, Prof. Haruna Musa-Muhammad, praised the governor’s student-friendly policies and expressed willingness for continued collaboration with the state government.

Organisers of the event said the Students’ Week was aimed at promoting academic excellence, cultural exchange, and talent development among students.

The programme attracted participants from various institutions across several northern states, with outstanding students rewarded for excellence in academic and extracurricular activities.
