The Kebbi State Government has refuted a viral social media video claiming that a secret airport used for cocaine smuggling was discovered in the Argungu forest.
Addressing journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Media and Publicity, Yahaya Sarki, dismissed the video as false, malicious, and misleading, accusing its creators of attempting to damage the reputation of the state and its administration.
Sarki emphasized that there is no evidence of drug trafficking or any illegal airstrip operating in Argungu Local Government Area or anywhere else in Kebbi State.
“The only airport in Kebbi State is the Sir Ahmadu Bello International Airport in Birnin Kebbi. All the names and details mentioned in that video are fictitious,” Sarki said.
He added that no official reports or investigations by the Nigeria Customs Service, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, or any other security agency supported the claims.
The government spokesperson urged members of the public to disregard the video and avoid spreading misinformation capable of causing panic.
Sarki reiterated that the administration of Governor Nasir Idris remains peaceful, transparent, and committed to cooperating with security and anti-drug agencies in maintaining law and order across the state.
