The Lagos State Government, via the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, has revealed that certain roads will be temporarily closed in preparation for the Lagos Fanti Carnival scheduled for Monday, April 6, 2026.
A post from the Lagos State’s X account on Friday listed the affected areas as follows:
King George V Road (junction by Mobil Filling Station)
Onikan Roundabout, inbound to TBS
Flagstaff House, inbound to TBS
Outer Marina by State House, inbound to TBS
Campbell Street, by the Old Defence Building
Catholic Mission Street, by St. Nicholas Church
“All closures will commence from 7:00 a.m. on the day of the event.
“Motorists and residents are advised to plan alternative routes and expect traffic delays around the affected areas,” the post stated.
The state government apologized for any inconvenience caused and expressed appreciation for the public’s cooperation during the carnival.
The Lagos Fanti Carnival is anticipated to attract large crowds, celebrating the city’s rich culture and heritage.
Organized annually by the Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, the carnival showcases the state’s vibrant arts, music, dance, and cultural traditions, drawing both residents and tourists.
Festivities typically include parades, street performances, and cultural displays across Lagos, often resulting in significant traffic congestion in central areas.
