LASG reacts to alleged kidnapping alert on Gbagada Expressway

The Chief Press Secretary to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, has debunked online reports suggesting a surge in kidnapping cases along the Gbagada Expressway.

The rumour, circulated through a flyer falsely attributed to the Lagos State Government, claimed there had been an increase in abductions in the area and advised residents to be extremely cautious, avoid travelling late at night, and use alternative routes.

The message further alleged that criminals were using the “one chance” tactic by operating in commercial buses to prey on unsuspecting commuters.

Reacting to the flyer, Akosile stated that the notification is entirely false and has been repeatedly debunked in the past.

Posting on his official X handle on Friday, he said: “Good morning Lagos, please beware of this fake news circulating again! We have addressed it before, but those spreading false information continue to recycle it. Kindly disregard this notification. Thank you.”

The Lagos State Government continues to urge residents to rely only on verified information from official government and security channels and to remain vigilant while commuting.
