Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde inspected the headquarters of Fresh FM, Ibadan, after a fire destroyed parts of the radio station on Friday.
The governor, who arrived at the station around 7:30pm, sympathised with the Chairman of the station, Olayinka Ayefele, and the management team.
Makinde described the incident as a wake-up call for the state on emergency management and fire response. He said he would meet with the leadership of the Oyo State Fire Service to restructure the agency for more effective service delivery.
He expressed gratitude that no lives were lost, pledging state support to ensure the station resumed full operations quickly.
“This incident highlights the need to strengthen our fire service. If the nearby fire station had been properly equipped, the damage would have been less severe,” he said.
Ayefele thanked the governor for the visit and appreciated fans and first responders.
Facilities affected by the fire included Fresh FM and Blast FM studios, the newsroom, transmitter room, and offices of senior managers.
