Makinde to sign N892bn 2026 appropriation bill Monday

Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, is scheduled to assent to the ₦892 billion 2026 Appropriation Bill on Monday.

This was disclosed in a statement released on Sunday in Ibadan by his Special Adviser on Media, Sulaimon Olarenwaju.

The signing ceremony will take place at the Executive Council Chambers of the Governor’s Office, following the passage of the bill by the Oyo State House of Assembly last week after thorough deliberations.

Governor Makinde had earlier presented the 2026 budget proposal—tagged the Budget of Economic Expansion—to the lawmakers on November 24, 2025, with a projected total of ₦891,985,074,480.79.

He had stated at the event that the 2026 budget was designed to build on the foundation of stability to drive productivity and inclusive growth.

“Expected at the ceremony are the Deputy Governor, Bayo Lawal; Speaker of the House of Assembly, Adebo Ogundoyin; and the Chief Judge of the state, Iyabo Yerima.

“Other functionaries expected are former Deputy Governors, Hamid Gbadamosi; Hazeem Gbolarumi; and Taofeek Arapaja; Mutiat Ladoja; former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Monsurat Sunmonu; the Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly, as well as the Chairman and members of the Assembly’s Appropriation Committee.

“Also billed to attend are the chairman and co-chairman of the state Elders’ Council; chairman of the state Advisory Council; the state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party; Chairman of the state Local Government Chairmen; labour union leaders; selected religious leaders and royal fathers, among others,” the statement partly read.
