The Department of State Services (DSS) has apprehended a man, Eze Ezenwa Benard, over allegations of selling fake recruitment past questions and answers on social media.
In a statement on Saturday, the agency revealed that the suspect managed a Facebook page named “Jobs and Education”, where he marketed the fraudulent materials to unsuspecting Nigerians, charging ₦1,000 per copy.
The DSS warned the public not to fall victim to such scams, emphasizing that it does not sell or distribute recruitment questions, answers, or exam guides through individuals or social media platforms.
“Recruitment into the Service, when necessary, follows a specialised procedure in accordance with extant laws and due process,” the DSS stated.
The agency described the arrest as part of its ongoing efforts to protect citizens from “the fraudulent schemes of unpatriotic elements” and safeguard the integrity of its recruitment process.
It urged Nigerians to remain vigilant, verify information only through official DSS channels, and report suspicious recruitment adverts or individuals attempting to extort money under false pretenses.
The DSS assured that offenders will be prosecuted and made to face the full weight of the law.
