Man flees after allegedly killing wife in Ondo community

A man has reportedly gone into hiding after allegedly killing his wife, Mrs Christianah Kutelu, in Ikare-Akoko, Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The victim, said to be a staff member of a special needs school in the community, died on Wednesday under circumstances believed to be linked to domestic violence.

Sources within the area said the suspect allegedly took the woman’s body to a morgue shortly after the incident before fleeing to an unknown destination.

Family members were said to have reported the case to the police, raising concerns over the husband’s possible involvement in her death.

Confirming the incident on Thursday, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, DSP Jimoh Abayomi, said the command had commenced an investigation into the case.

“The Ondo State Police Command has commenced investigation into a suspected murder case reported at the Ikare Division involving the death of Mrs Christianah Kutelu, aged 51,” he said.

He added, “The case was reported by a family member who alleged that the deceased’s husband might have been involved in acts of domestic violence leading to her death.”

“The husband is currently at large, and efforts are ongoing to locate and apprehend him. The corpse has been deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy to determine the actual cause of death,” the police spokesperson said.
