The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released a list of presidential candidates for the 2027 election, with five contenders aged between 35 and 48.
The candidates include Moses Olusoji Adebisi, Sunday Chibuzo Okereke, Nkem Esther Okereke, Abbas-Bin Aliyu and Ada Elizabeth Fredrick Okwori.
At 35, Adebisi of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) is the youngest candidate on the list.
Labour Party’s Sunday Chibuzo Okereke and Nkem Esther Okereke of the National Rescue Movement (NRM) are both 43 years old.
Abbas-Bin Aliyu of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) is 44, while Ada Elizabeth Fredrick Okwori of the National Democratic Party (NDP), aged 48, completes the group.
The presidential race features candidates from different age groups, with the youngest listed at 35 and the oldest at 79.
The five youngest presidential candidates are:
- Moses Olusoji Adebisi — 35 years (DLA)
Adebisi is the youngest candidate on INEC’s list. He is contesting under the platform of the Democratic Leadership Alliance, with Nafisat Usaku Abubakar as his running mate.
- Sunday Chibuzo Okereke — 43 years (Labour Party)
Okereke, 43, is the presidential candidate of the Labour Party. Hajja Bintu Kontoa is listed as his running mate.
- Nkem Esther Okereke — 43 years (National Rescue Movement)
Nkem Esther Okereke, also 43, is the presidential candidate of the National Rescue Movement (NRM). She is one of the female presidential candidates on the list.
- Abbas-Bin Aliyu — 44 years (Action Democratic Party)
Aliyu Abbas-Bin, 44, is the presidential candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP). His running mate is listed as Chinazam Ike.
- Ada Elizabeth Fredrick Okwori — 48 years (National Democratic Party)
Ada Elizabeth Fredrick Okwori, 48, is the presidential candidate of the National Democratic Party (NDP). She is also among the female candidates contesting for the presidency in the 2027 election. Her running mate is Uchenna Anthony Chukwuemeka.
The final list contains 18 presidential candidates sponsored by different political parties, comprising 16 men and two women.
