The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of candidates for the 2027 presidential election, with four women listed as vice-presidential candidates.
The candidates are Peace Egobia Ofordile, Nafisat Usaku Abubakar, Hajja Bintu Konto and Key Patience Ndidi.
At 35, Nafisat Usaku Abubakar of the Democratic Leadership Alliance (DLA) is the youngest female vice-presidential candidate on the list.
Peace Egobia Ofordile of the Allied Peoples Party (APP) is 47, while Hajja Bintu Konto of the Labour Party is 54.
Key Patience Ndidi of the Young Progressive Party (YPP), aged 52, completes the group.
The four women are contesting alongside presidential candidates from different political parties in the 2027 election.
The four female vice-presidential candidates are:
- Nafisat Usaku Abubakar — 35 years (DLA)
Abubakar, 35, is the running mate to Moses Olusoji Adebisi, the presidential candidate of the Democratic Leadership Alliance.
She is the youngest of the four female vice-presidential candidates listed by INEC.
According to the final list, Abubakar holds FSLC, SSCE and BSc qualifications.
- Peace Egobia Ofordile — 47 years (APP)
Ofordile, 47, is the vice-presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Party.
She is the running mate to Yusuf Kabiru, the party’s presidential candidate.
INEC’s list records her qualifications as SSCE and National Diploma.
- Key Patience Ndidi — 52 years (YPP)
Key Patience Ndidi, 52, is the vice-presidential candidate of the Young Progressive Party.
She is running alongside Peter Ada Agada, the party’s presidential candidate.
According to the INEC list, she holds WAEC, BSc and MBA qualifications.
- Hajja Bintu Konto — 54 years (Labour Party)
Hajja Bintu Konto, 54, is the vice-presidential candidate of the Labour Party.
She is the running mate to Sunday Chibuzo Okereke, the party’s presidential candidate.
INEC’s final list records her qualifications as FSLC, WAEC, MPH, BSc (Hons) in Health Education and a Certificate in General Nursing.
The final list contains 18 presidential candidates sponsored by different political parties, with four women among the 18 vice-presidential candidates.
