Military chiefs visit Katsina, pay tribute to late retired general

A Defence Headquarters delegation has paid condolence visits to Katsina State and the family of the late retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, assuring that his service to the nation will be honoured and remembered.

The team, led by the Chief of Administration (Army), Major General IM Abdullahi, visited on Sunday on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff, General OO Oluyede, and the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

During the visit to the family residence, Abdullahi described the late officer as a disciplined and patriotic soldier who contributed significantly to the Nigerian Army and national security efforts throughout his career.

He noted that Major General Abubakar served the country faithfully for over three decades, stressing that his dedication and sacrifices would remain a lasting legacy within the armed forces.

“Major General Abubakar served the Nigerian Army and the nation meritoriously for over three decades. His years of dedicated service and sacrifice will not be forgotten, and his legacy will continue to inspire officers and soldiers of the Armed Forces of Nigeria,” Major General Abdullahi stated.

The delegation also reassured the family that security agencies would continue efforts to ensure those responsible for his death are held accountable, while offering continued support to the bereaved family.

As part of the visit, a national flag was presented to honour the late officer’s service to the country.

In response, the family expressed appreciation for the condolence visit, describing it as a source of comfort during their period of grief and praying for the repose of the deceased.

The delegation also met with the Katsina State Government, where the Deputy Governor, Mallam Faruk Lawal Jobe, received them on behalf of Governor Dikko Umaru Radda and described the incident as a painful loss to the state and Nigeria as a whole.
