NAF air strikes kill ’15 terrorists’ in Sambisa forest

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has confirmed that more than 15 terrorists were neutralised in precision air strikes conducted around the Sambisa forest in Borno State.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Ehimen Ejodame, NAF’s director of public relations and information, made the announcement.

Ejodame explained that the strikes, carried out on Wednesday under Operation Hadin Kai, targeted a hideout west of Zuwa after credible intelligence and surveillance confirmed the presence of insurgents.

He revealed that the location was serving as a base for fighters and commanders linked to recent attacks in the Bitta axis.

According to Ejodame, the bombardments destroyed key structures and inflicted significant losses on the terrorists.

He stressed that the operation showcased NAF’s professionalism and its continued support to ground forces in safeguarding Nigerians.

Ejodame further noted that each successful strike brings the country closer to sustainable peace by weakening terrorist networks.

On Tuesday, troops of Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK), backed by the air component and local security groups, reportedly eliminated more than 20 insurgents during a week-long offensive in the north-east.

The joint operation, carried out between August 23 and 30, covered Gujba, Gubio, Sabsawa, Whumtakum, Mandarari, Gajigana, Konduga, Banki, and Loskori Kura in Borno and Yobe states.

During the raids, several collaborators and suppliers linked to the terrorists were arrested, while improvised explosive devices (IEDs) were uncovered and detonated in clearance operations.
