The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dealt a significant blow to insurgent operations in the North-East, neutralising key terrorists entrenched in the Mandara Mountains of Borno State.
In a statement issued on Monday, NAF spokesman, Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, confirmed that precision air strikes were carried out on July 6, 2025, targeting major strongholds of the Jama’atu Ahlis Sunna Lidda’awati wal-Jihad (JAS) faction of Boko Haram.
He identified Wa Jahode and Loghpere as the primary targets—locations which have long served as fortified terrorist enclaves.
“These mountainous areas along the Nigeria–Cameroon border recently experienced increased terrorist activity, including a noticeable logistics build-up and the presence of senior JAS commanders,” Ejodame noted.
He explained that confirmatory Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) missions revealed several fortified structures equipped with solar panels, black flags, and evidence of militant mobilisation—indicators of imminent coordinated attacks.
“In response, NAF deployed strike aircraft in a series of well-planned air interdictions, successfully destroying terrorist infrastructure such as logistics warehouses, command centres, and reinforced shelters,” he said.
The strikes reportedly neutralised several insurgents, significantly disrupting their supply networks and weakening their operational capacity.
Ejodame added that the Nigerian Air Force remains committed to sustaining its counter-terror operations, with the aim of restoring peace and security across all troubled regions of the country.
