The Nigerian Navy has described as fake a recruitment notice circulating on social media, which claims to announce its 2026 Batch 39 recruitment exercise.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Director of Naval Information, Capt. Abiodun Folorunsho, said the notice was not authorised by the Navy and should not be regarded as an official recruitment announcement.
Folorunsho urged prospective applicants and members of the public to be wary of recruitment information shared through unofficial social media accounts, websites and other unverified platforms.
He said all authentic information on Nigerian Navy recruitment, including eligibility criteria, application procedures, timelines and available categories, would be released only through the service’s authorised communication channels.
“The official website for Nigerian Navy recruitment or enlistment is http://www.joinnigeriannavy.navy.mil.ng, and the official website remains https://navy.mil.ng,” he said.
He also advised the public against making payments to individuals, agents or unauthorised platforms in connection with Nigerian Navy recruitment, as the exercise was free of charge.
“The Nigerian Navy does not authorise third parties to recruit applicants or collect recruitment fees on its behalf.
“The Navy remains committed to maintaining a transparent and credible recruitment process and will continue to provide timely and accurate information through its official communication channels,” he said.
