The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stepped up consultations among its key leaders ahead of the 2027 general elections, with National Leader Senator Henry Seriake Dickson calling for unity within the party.
Dickson made this known in a Facebook post after meeting with the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, his running mate, Dr Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the National Chairman and other senior members of the party.
He explained that the meeting formed part of ongoing discussions on matters concerning the party and the country.
The latest engagement came two days after another meeting involving the party’s leadership, with discussions centred on further consultations and the conclusion of important decisions ahead of the 2027 elections.
“Today, I met with our Party’s Presidential Candidate, Mr. Peter Obi, and the Running Mate, Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, alongside the National Chairman and other party leaders, in continuation of our consultations and deliberations on issues concerning our Party and the nation,” Dickson stated.
He said one of the major areas of discussion was the preparation for the unveiling of the party’s Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development comes as political parties across Nigeria intensify preparations for the 2027 polls, with the formation of campaign councils expected to mark a more organised phase of their election activities.
Dickson also appealed to party stakeholders, including aspirants and members, to set aside their differences and work towards achieving success for the party’s candidates.
“At this critical stage, I call on all stakeholders, aspirants and members of our great Party to unite, close ranks and work collectively for the success of our candidates at all levels, from top to bottom,” he said.
The appeal is expected to strengthen efforts to unify the party’s structures as it prepares to commence nationwide campaigns for its candidates ahead of the 2027 elections.
