NDLEA uncovers secret ‘Colorado’ Cannabis laboratory in Lagos

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered a clandestine laboratory producing Colorado, a potent synthetic strain of cannabis, inside a residential building in Ajao Estate, Isolo, Lagos State.

NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, confirmed the discovery in a statement on Sunday. He revealed that the laboratory’s owner, 30-year-old Stephen Kelechi Imoh, was arrested after months of surveillance and intelligence gathering on the local production of the psychoactive substance.

Babafemi explained that the breakthrough followed the interception of multiple Colorado consignments in March and May 2025, suggesting that the drug, once imported, was now being manufactured locally.

During the raid, operatives recovered 16.2 kilograms of freshly produced Colos, 1.7 kilograms of ADB-CHMNACA Cannabinol, 4.5 kilograms of potassium carbonate, and 91 litres of dibromo butane, all key materials used in the production of synthetic cannabis.

The operation culminated on Thursday, 30 October 2025, when NDLEA officers stormed the residential apartment Imoh had converted into a drug laboratory.

In a related operation, NDLEA operatives raided the hideout of 28-year-old drug dealer Afeez Salisu, also known as Malu, in Mushin, Lagos. They recovered 16 compressed blocks of Ghana Loud and several sachets and bottles of Colorado weighing 16.4 kilograms.
