Nigeria, Saint Kitts, Nevis agree on reciprocal 90 days visa-free entry

Citizens of Nigeria and Saint Kitts and Nevis can now travel visa-free for up to 90 days, following a new agreement signed between the two nations.

The policy came into effect on August 4, according to reports.

Akinsola Akinlabi, spokesperson of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), confirmed the development to TheCable late Sunday night.

The agreement is a result of high-level discussions between President Bola Tinubu and Saint Kitts’ Prime Minister, Terrance Drew, during meetings earlier this year in Abuja.

Both leaders also met during Tinubu’s state visit to Saint Lucia in June.

During a special joint sitting of the senate and house of assembly of Saint Lucia, Tinubu stated that Nigeria was open to exploring a visa waiver for holders of diplomatic and official passports from the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).

The OECS includes Antigua and Barbuda, the Commonwealth of Dominica, Grenada, Montserrat, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.

Tinubu’s visit to Saint Lucia marked the beginning of formal diplomatic ties between both states.

He also pledged to send Nigerian technical experts to the OECS to support knowledge exchange and strengthen Africa–Caribbean cooperation.

Nigeria fulfilled this commitment shortly after his address.

The reciprocal visa waiver between Nigeria and Saint Kitts and Nevis is the first practical outcome of Tinubu’s proposal for a broader visa-free framework with the OECS.
