Nigeria’s diversity remains its greatest strength- Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu has said Nigeria’s diversity remains its greatest asset, emphasising that economic growth must reach the poorest households to secure national stability and sustainable development.

He made the remarks on Monday at the National Economic Council (NEC) Conference on Inclusive Growth and Sustainable National Development, held at the State House in Abuja.

Tinubu said that when states grow, the nation grows, and when development reaches the most vulnerable households, it strengthens stability and secures the future for coming generations.

He described the challenge facing the country as demanding but historic, adding that his Renewed Hope Agenda represents a national agreement and a pledge that the sacrifices of Nigerians will result in a stronger, fairer and more prosperous nation.

The President expressed confidence that the conference resolutions would support farming activities, livestock investment, ranch development and agricultural diversification, noting that modernising agriculture remains central to inclusive growth. He added that mechanised farming would be introduced across the country’s seven zones.

Tinubu said his administration had implemented bold but necessary reforms since taking office to stabilise the economy, restore confidence and lay the foundation for long-term growth, stressing that the reforms aim to deliver prosperity, dignity and opportunity for all Nigerians.

He noted that monetary policy reforms had begun to yield positive results and had attracted international recognition.

The President added that the Federal Government had recorded significant progress in promoting cooperative federalism and inclusive development, particularly through improved revenue distribution to states and local governments, enabling them to pay salaries, invest in infrastructure and deliver social services more effectively.

Tinubu said his administration had prioritised infrastructure development in transportation, power, digital connectivity and irrigation, alongside expanded social investment and human capital programmes targeting vulnerable households, youths, women and small businesses.

He also reassured Nigerians of his government’s resolve to defeat terrorism and banditry, describing insecurity as unacceptable and alien to Nigeria’s culture.
