Nine dead in Katsina road accident

At least nine people have lost their lives in an accident in Malumfashi town, along the Malumfashi-Kafur Road in Katsina State.

The crash also left 11 others with varying degrees of injuries, and they were promptly taken to the hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the tragic incident, a lone crash, was caused by speeding, which resulted in the driver losing control of the vehicle.

The State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Aliyu Ma’aji, confirmed the incident in a statement on Sunday. He disclosed that the victims were traveling in a Hummer bus carrying 20 passengers.

Ma’aji further advised motorists to avoid speeding, overloading, and reckless driving, particularly during festive seasons, which have caused numerous fatalities in the state despite the government’s efforts to construct quality roads.
