Nine surveyors abducted in Ondo regain freedom

The nine surveyors kidnapped by gunmen last week were reportedly released by their captors on Tuesday night.

According to reports, the victims were abducted last Tuesday as they were working at a location in the state’s Ilu Abo Community in Akure North Local Government Area. The abductors reportedly wanted N100 million in exchange for their release.

Following the news, hundreds of women demonstrated against the surveyors‘ kidnapping on Tuesday by taking to the streets of Akure, the capital of Ondo state.

They urged Lucky Aiyedatiwa, the state governor, to step in.

It was gathered that the families of the victims were made to pay N20m before they were released.

A brother to the Ejemikin of Akure, High Chief Oluwole Omotayo, Pastor Ajibade Owolanke, confirmed the release of the victims to journalists in Akure.

According to Owolanke, the surveyors were freed on Tuesday night, and they were currently in Akure, although their exact location was not disclosed.
