NMDPRA warns against fake ongoing recruitment

The Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority has alerted the public to misleading online claims that it is currently conducting a recruitment exercise, describing such reports as scams orchestrated by fraudulent recruitment networks targeting job seekers.

In a statement shared on its official X account on Monday, the NMDPRA said the clarification became necessary due to the activities of dishonest individuals who have been taking advantage of Nigerians facing economic hardship by promoting fake job offers. According to the agency, these scammers issue counterfeit employment letters, make false assurances, and advertise positions that do not exist, while demanding substantial payments from unsuspecting applicants.

The authority stressed that it is not recruiting at any level at present and noted that any future hiring process would strictly follow the established guidelines for employment within the Nigerian Public Service.

“We wish to state categorically that the NMDPRA is NOT conducting any recruitment exercise currently,” the statement read. “Neither is the Agency undertaking any kind of employment in its services at any level.”

NMDPRA urged the public to ignore all fake recruitment advertisements and to verify any claims only through its official channels. The agency directed Nigerians to its official website and verified social media pages for accurate information.

“For current and up-to-date information regarding all our activities, kindly refer to our official corporate website: www.nmdpra.gov.ng and our verified social media outlets on Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram,” the statement added.

The authority warned that the fraudulent activities not only defraud citizens but also damage the reputation of the agency. It therefore called on members of the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious recruitment offers.
