NSCDC Deploys Massive Personnel For Hitch-free Eid-el-Fitr Celebration

The Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Dr. Ahmed Abubakar Audi, has assured Nigerians of a peaceful and secure Eid-al-Fitr celebration, with the Corps undertaking massive personnel deployment across the nation.

The Corps, in a statement by its national spokesman, CSC Afolabi Babawale, said the deployment was designed to ensure public safety and prevent any disruptions during the festive period.

In the statement, Dr. Audi emphasised the Corps’ commitment to maintaining security during the holidays and addressing potential threats, including acts of vandalism targeting critical national infrastructure.

He condemned recent explosions and attacks on pipeline installations, highlighting the severe economic impact such destruction could have on the country. Dr. Audi made it clear that such acts would not be tolerated and vowed to ramp up efforts to protect vital national assets.

The NSCDC boss also lauded the successful collaboration between the Armed Forces, the Department of State Services (DSS), the Police, and the NSCDC in Rivers State, where a recent attempt by vandals to sabotage oil installations in Allu-Rumuekpe, Emuoha local government area of the State, was foiled.

He stressed the importance of continued cooperation between security agencies in combating crime and ensuring national security.

Further outlining the Corps’ preparedness, Dr. Audi appealed to the public for continued support in providing credible information and intelligence to prevent attacks on critical infrastructure. “We must justify the confidence reposed in us by the government and the public by discharging our statutory responsibilities with professionalism and loyalty,” he stated.

He said, “The Corps has mobilised a wide range of personnel, including officers from Special Intelligence Squads, Mining Marshalls, Crack Squads, Special Weapon and Tactics (SWAT), Female Special Forces, and other specialized units, to ensure swift response capabilities.

Dr. Audi confirmed that operatives would be on high alert during the festive period to ensure the safety of the public and protect key infrastructure such as oil pipelines, power and telecommunication installations, rail lines, and mining sites.

“Additionally, state commandants in coastal areas have been instructed to follow the Corps’ Standard Operating Procedures and deploy necessary equipment to ensure security throughout the celebrations.

“With these extensive preparations, the NSCDC is confident that Nigerians will enjoy a peaceful and secure Eid-al-Fitr,” he stated.
