The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara State Command, has arrested AbdulRauf Ambali over allegations of incest, unlawful sexual intercourse with his 14-year-old biological daughter, and procurement of abortion.
The suspect was apprehended following credible information received from concerned members of the public in Alapa, Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The matter was first reported at the Alapa Divisional Office on June 16, 2026, before being transferred to the Command’s Gender Unit for detailed investigation. Ironically, the case initially came to the attention of the Corps through the suspect himself, who reported that his 14-year-old daughter had been missing from home for about three weeks.
Upon receiving the report, operatives from the Gender Unit promptly launched an investigation and successfully located the minor. During interviews and engagement with the victim, the girl revealed that she had intentionally fled her father’s home after allegedly suffering months of sexual abuse and intimidation.
Preliminary findings showed that the victim had lived with her grandmother since childhood before moving into her father’s custody in December 2025, under the guise of receiving parental care and support. The minor alleged that shortly after arriving at his residence, her father began subjecting her to repeated sexual abuse.
She further claimed she was frequently threatened, beaten, and intimidated whenever she resisted the suspect’s advances. The abuse reportedly continued until she could no longer bear it, leading her to leave home without informing anyone of her location.
Investigations also revealed that the victim allegedly became pregnant in May 2026 due to the repeated sexual abuse. The suspect reportedly took her to a private facility where a medical examination confirmed the pregnancy, after which arrangements were made to terminate it.
During questioning, the suspect reportedly admitted to having unlawful sexual relations with the minor. The Kwara State Commandant, Abbas Mohammed, strongly condemned the alleged act, describing it as a heinous betrayal of parental responsibility and a grave violation of the rights, dignity, and wellbeing of a child.
