The Ogun State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) on Tuesday shut down Imole Ayomi Bakery and End-Time Grace Apostolic Church for breaching environmental regulations.
Hon. Farouk Akintunde, Special Adviser to the Governor on OGEPA, revealed this to journalists at his office in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, the state capital.
According to Akintunde, Imole Ayomi Bakery, situated along Abiola Way in the Asero area of Abeokuta, was closed due to air pollution that posed significant health risks to the public.
He also said that End-Time Grace Apostolic Church at Ago-Oko was sealed for sound pollution, which was also a threat to public health and a disruption to community peace.
“These places were sealed for failing to adhere to environmental standards despite receiving prior warning from OGEPA,” Akintunde said.
The OGEPA boss emphasised its commitment to creating a healthier and sustainable environment for all while encouraging residents to report environmental violations to the Agency in safeguarding the environment.
