One killed, another injured as Israeli strike hits vehicle in Southern Lebanon

Lebanon’s Ministry of Health has confirmed that one person was killed and another injured in an Israeli air strike that targeted a vehicle in the country’s south, marking the latest attack despite a ceasefire between Israel and Hezbollah.

In a statement, the ministry reported that an “Israeli enemy strike on a car in Haruf, Nabatiyeh district” resulted in one fatality and one injury.

The Israeli military has not yet commented on the incident.

Israel has carried out multiple air strikes in Lebanon despite the ceasefire agreement reached in November, which was intended to end more than a year of hostilities with Hezbollah.

Over the past week, the Israeli military has intensified its assaults, killing two people in separate strikes on Friday. The army claimed responsibility for the deaths, stating that the first strike killed a Hezbollah “logistics commander,” while the second targeted a member “involved in efforts to re-establish Hezbollah’s military capabilities.”

A day earlier, a series of Israeli raids on southern and eastern Lebanon left four people dead, including an elderly woman. The Israeli military said its targets included a weapons depot, a training facility, and military infrastructure.

According to the ceasefire terms, Israeli forces were to withdraw from southern Lebanon, while Hezbollah was expected to move north of the Litani River and dismantle its military installations in the south.

However, under pressure from the United States and amid fears of renewed escalation, the Lebanese government has initiated efforts to disarm Hezbollah — a move strongly opposed by the group and its allies.

Despite the truce, Israel has continued to station troops at five strategic border points, maintaining a tense and fragile calm along the frontier.
