Operatives of Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) have arrested Mr Musa Ali for impersonating a member of the security outfit in an attempt to defraud unsuspecting members of the public.
Media Information Officer of OPSH, Major Samson Nantip, disclosed the arrest in a statement on Saturday. He said the suspect posed as a serving OPSH operative and deceitfully collected ₦400,000 from the family of a notorious gunrunner currently under investigation.
According to Nantip, Mr Ali falsely claimed he could halt the ongoing investigation and secure the suspect’s release from custody, but OPSH operatives uncovered the scheme and arrested him.
Nantip stressed that OPSH never accepts money or other forms of gratification to release suspects or obstruct investigations, adding that all arrests are handled strictly in line with legal procedures to ensure justice and maintain peace across the Joint Operations Area.
He said the arrest demonstrated OPSH’s commitment to professionalism, transparency and zero tolerance for corruption, and assured that Mr Ali would be prosecuted once investigations were concluded.
The statement urged the public to remain vigilant against fraudsters claiming influence over OPSH operations, and reiterated that the security outfit, in collaboration with other agencies, would continue to work with stakeholders and law-abiding citizens to rid the area of criminal activity.
