A video showing Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke prostrating before his elder sister, Chief Dr Modupeola Adeleke-Sanni, popularly known as “Aunty Dupe”, has sparked reactions online following his victory in the 2026 governorship election.
In the widely shared footage, Adeleke is seen showing respect to his elder sister by prostrating before her in the traditional Yoruba manner after being declared the winner of the election.
The moment appeared to be a personal family celebration, as “Aunty Dupe” responded by praying for the governor following his successful bid for a second term.
Adeleke, who contested the election on the platform of the Accord Party, was declared the winner by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Returning Officer, Joshua Ogunwole, at the state collation centre in Osogbo on Sunday.
He polled 511,067 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who scored 444,815 votes.
The result gave Adeleke a winning margin of 66,252 votes and secured him another four-year term as governor.
The viral family moment has since attracted attention online, with many users commenting on Adeleke’s display of respect for his elder sister after the electoral victory.
