Our official X account has been compromised — DHQ

The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced that its official X account has been compromised.

The disclosure was made on Saturday by the Director of Defence Information, Samaila Uba, who said the incident was being handled as a cybersecurity matter.

According to Uba, the military authorities have activated “appropriate technical measures” to secure the account and prevent further unauthorised access.

He added that efforts were ongoing to regain full control of the account.

“Consequently, members of the public are advised to disregard any suspicious, unauthorised or misleading content that may be posted from the account during this period,” the statement reads.

The DHQ reaffirmed its commitment to protecting information and ensuring that Nigerians receive accurate and credible updates regarding the activities and operations of the Armed Forces of Nigeria.

The military also urged members of the public to remain vigilant, assuring them that further updates would be issued when necessary.

In the meantime, the DHQ advised the public to rely on its official Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp platforms for verified information while efforts to resolve the issue with its X account continue.
